Seminar on "Slope Stabilisation Using Soil Nail System"

On Thursday (13 December 2018) evening, a seminar on "Slope Stabilisation Using Soil Nail System" was held at room no 614 of Department of Civil Engineering as part of UAP CE SEMINAR SERIES.

Sheikh Muhammad Ferdous, Chartered Professional Civil Engineer, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), United Kingdom, was the guest speaker. He discussed the scheme of soil system recently implemented in Singapore for a 12.5 m high cut-slope.

Professional approach and hands-on experience in the establishment of design requirements, development of concept schemes and design solutions were presented. As the soil nail system is one of the safe and economic solutions for stabilisation of the existing slope, he suggested that the technique should be adopted in hilly areas of our country to prevent destructive slope failure.

The hour-long seminar ended in a Q&A session.
